Order ID: 1 Title: <strong>About VC</strong> Hint: Name: <p> Dr. Mohammad Ismail is serving as Professor of Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has more than 18 years of teaching, research, consultancy and administrative experience in the area of energy, environment, clean fuel, carbon capture, biofuel, climate change, air quality management and pollution control, waste management (biomass, plastic, textile, leather etc.), Effluent treatment, fossil fuel and renewable fuel e.g. solar and biofuel. </p> <p> He awarded PhD in Engineering (Chemical) from the Department of Engineering of University of Cambridge, UK in 2016 and M.Sc. (2002) and B.Sc. (Hons) (2001) from the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Dr. Ismail also completed his Postdoctoral study from University of Cambridge in 2016-2017. Dr. Ismail started career as a Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), later in 2008, he joined as Bangladesh Civil Service as Assistant Secretary (Magistrate) for short period of 15 days and then joined as joined as Lecturer of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. From 2023, he is serving as Professor of this Department. </p> <p> Dr. Ismail’s research work is published in more than 55 peer reviewed research articles, attended and presented research finding in 50 national and international conferences in Bangladesh, India, Egypt, UK, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, China, Philippines, USA etc. Dr. Ismail carried out different Research and Development projects funded by US Government, Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, Ministry of Education of Bangladesh, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, and Global Challenge Research fund of UK Government. So far, he completed and managed 18 R & D projects. </p> <p> Dr. Ismail also has 12+ years of Consultancy experience with Department of Environment (DoE), Ministry of Environment, Forestry & Climate Change (MoEFCC), United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), ADB, World Bank, GIZ etc. He has awarded Pillman Award, Girton College, University of Cambridge (2024), Ford of Britain Trust Award, Dept. of Engineering, Univ. of Cambridge, Royal Society of Chemistry Travel Award (2015, 2018), American Chemical Society (ACS) Travel Award (2019), Islamic Development Bank-Cambridge International award for PhD Study (2012), TWAS, Italy Fellowship for Research & Advanced Training at TERI, India2007 & 2009, Dean’s Award, Faculty of Science, University of Dhaka (2005) and many other awards as an excellence of his academic carrier. </p> <p> Dr. Ismail is also active social worker and involved with various social and academic organization and activities.
